Galactic Regions & Geopolitics¶
After the Treaty of Peace, the major factions (MUD, ONI, Ustur) retreated to their home systems (Safe Zones) to rebuild.
The Geopolitical Landscape (100 Years Post-War)¶
The Great Retreat & The Golden Age¶
After the Treaty of Peace, the major factions (MUD, ONI, Ustur) retreated to their home systems (Safe Zones) to rebuild.
- Inside: A "Golden Age". Vaults full of ATLAS, societies rebuilt, stability enforced by the Council of Peace (COP).
- The Pressure: The Safe Zones are now bursting at the seams. Borders are "simply not enough anymore".
🟢 Universal Free Movement (Canon Rule)¶
The Treaty of Peace guarantees free circulation for ALL species across ALL of Galia. Every sector — Safe Zone, MRZ, or HRZ — has members of every species present. "Influence" means the faction that founded/controls the sector politically and economically, NOT that only their species live there.
The Power Vacuum (The Outer Worlds)¶
The retreat left the Medium and High Risk Zones abandoned.
- The Betrayal: Colonies were explored, conquered, and then left to fend for themselves when the armies went home.
- The Resentment: The COP's "peace" is viewed as a system that privileges the inner factions while the outer worlds suffer.
- The Result: Chaos, warlords, and the rise of Minor Factions (Jorvik, ECOS) filling the void.
The Three Zones¶
1. Safe Zone ( The Home Systems)¶
- Status: Security / Wealth / Stagnation
- Sectors:
- Exodus (MUD / Human)
- Segal (Sogmian / ONI 4)
- Akenat (Punaab / ONI 4)
- Neuno (Mierese / ONI 4)
- Usturvana (Ustur)
- Atmosphere: High-tech, safe, patrolled by COP. "Inebriated by divine providence" (MUD) or "Shielded by Vows" (Sogmian).
- Conflict: Political maneuvering, espionage, internal faction riots (e.g., MUD's church vs military).
2. Medium Risk Zone (MRZ) - "The Third World"¶
- Status: Inequality / Opportunity / Instability
- Atmosphere: Resembles third-world inequality.
- The Elite: Wealthy regional powers trading rare resources with the Safe Zone.
- The Masses: Impoverished, serving the elite or surviving in scrap-towns.
- Dynamics:
- Warlords: Regional powers trying to seize control.
- Raids: Constant attacks from the HRZ.
- Supply Lines: Isolated from main faction routes.
- Factions: ECOS (Ideological rebels), Jorvik (Scavengers/Pirates).
3. High Risk Zone (HRZ) - "The Graveyard"¶
- Status: Ruins / Tufa / Cataclysm
- Atmosphere: Civilizations here collapsed. Only ruins and danger remain.
- Threats:
- Tufa Attacks: Constant predation.
- Environment: Deep space anomalies, creatures.
- The Cataclysm: The sealed territory of Iris.
- Population: Only the desperate, the insane, or the extremely powerful venture here.
- ~2499: Tales of the riches found in the inner places of the galaxy start to spread — daring captains begin exploring the area known as the High-risk zone
- ~2507: Factions start to create the first HRZ outposts — formalizing the exploration into permanent presence
The Council of Peace (COP) Position¶
- Intent: Genuine concern for the outer worlds (mostly). Attempts to make amends.
- Reality: constrained. Lacks resources/political capital to intervene effectively in the MRZ/HRZ without angering the major factions.
- Perception: Seen as a puppet of the Safe Zone elites by those living in the MRZ.
