Overview¶

The Anfoil States stand as a testament to ideological divergence. Governed by the Anfoil Dissidents — Ustur who deliberately severed their conscience connection — this sector represents a radical experiment: what happens when Ustur abandon emotions, enlightenment, and the Elder Order in pursuit of pure technological advancement?

History¶

Governance: Meritocratic Technate¶

Political System¶

• Leadership determined by skill and accomplishment, not elections
• Ascendancy through societal tiers based on merit alone
• No traditional Ustur values or systems — completely independent structure

Leader: Ponel.eldr — "First Citizen"¶

• Former Elder who left the Elder Order
• Trained alongside Chior.eldr under Armi.eldr — they were friends as young Ustur
• Both served in the Convergence War under Armi.eldr (Ustur faction leader)
• The war's devastation drove Ponel to reject the Elder Order entirely
• Sacrificed his core to create powerful processing enhancements
• Lost Elder Conscience access and immortality — keeps .eldr suffix as legacy
• Cold, rational, brilliant strategist
• Views the Path of Enlightenment as "mysticism and exploitation"

The Chior-Ponel Divide¶

• Two friends who trained together, served together, and chose opposite paths
• Chior → stayed in the Elder Order, became a pacifist diplomat (Zenith Door)
• Ponel → left, founded a technocratic state that suppresses emotion (Anfoil)
• Chior still tries to maintain the friendship, but Ponel sees him as a fool
• Diplomatic ties exist between factions out of political convenience
• The friendship of the past is dead — at least for Ponel, who suppressed the emotions that made it possible
• If Ponel attacks the Iris Academy (to seize The Seed), it would force Chior to act against his old friend

Armi.eldr — The Missing Mentor¶

• Ustur faction leader during the Convergence War
• Trained both Chior and Ponel on the Path of Enlightenment
• Disappeared shortly after the end of the Convergence War
• Fate unknown — a mystery to be resolved (TBD)

Sector Structure: Technological Specialization¶

• Planets specialized by technological domain
• Each planet further delineated into subspecialties
• Environment of relentless focus and unparalleled efficiency
• A sector-wide machine optimized for innovation

Ideology: The Rejection¶

• Emotions are detrimental to Ustur function
• Enlightenment is a dangerous diversion
• Technological advancement = the true Ustur purpose
• Use emotion suppression programs — technological systems
• Claim to be "the only true rational species in Galia"

Cracks in the System¶

[!WARNING] Reports emerge of Ustur exhibiting erratic behavior and palpable stress — symptoms at odds with Anfoil doctrine. The state suppresses these narratives, but murmurs persist.

• Currently isolated cases, but a growing trend over time
• Affects Ustur who undergo the Anfoil ritual (suppression of emotions and core)
• The psychological toll of severing the conscience connection accumulates progressively
• A ticking time bomb within the Technate — worse with each generation

Relationship with the Elder Order¶

• Called "lost progeny" by the Elders
• Elders have historically respected Anfoil autonomy
• Growing discontent among Elders — speculation they may "reclaim" the Anfoil
• Re-established diplomatic relations (2579) but remain disconnected from shared conscience
• Ioki Ustur can sense disconnected Ustur nearby — forces Anfoil to use mercenaries for covert ops

Hidden Agenda: The Seed¶

• The Seed: Pre-Ustur artifact — energy source capable of creating Titan-class ships
• Ponel considers it more important than the entire sector
• Competitor: The Iris Academy (HQ: Zenith Door) — led by Prof. Exfeheros (Punaab)
• Ponel tried bribing Iris Academy with "rivers of ATLAS" — they refused
• Ponel's backup plan: extermination
• Connected to Uru's Watch — an unopened ancient temple on Ioki
