The Nimbus Spheres

Origin

  • ~2487: Fimbul Engineers from Free Harbors discover the unique sector Everstorm in MRZ-25
  • Upon seeing the non-stop electrical storms, they decide on researching ways of harnessing the potential endless energy of the sector
  • Fimbul = neutral manufacturer, native to the MRZ (not faction-aligned, founded ~2471 in Free Harbors)
  • Driven by the potential concealed within the chaos

Technology

  • ~2504: After many attempts, Fimbul engineers finally develop ionic shields capable of withstanding the tempest of Everstorm — the foundational breakthrough enabling permanent habitation
  • ~2509: Fimbul Engineers create the Sky Fortress — the first and largest Nimbus Sphere, a floating city sustained by the force of Everstorm's tempest. However, the sector stops receiving support from Free Harbors due to rising tensions that will lead to the Convergence War
  • ~2513: The Sky Fortress manages to survive the Convergence War in relative peace, shielded by the sector's tempests. They begin exporting energy cells to Free Harbors as a means of sustenance
