Ilidae Sector (MRZ-6)

Situated deep within the Medium Zone, Ilidae is immediately identifiable by its distinct amber luminescence emitted from its star.

Overview

Situated deep within the Medium Zone, Ilidae is immediately identifiable by its distinct amber luminescence emitted from its star.

Key Lore

The Monoliths

  • ~2466: Strange monoliths are first found in the Ilidae Sector
  • The amber hue is harnessed by monoliths strategically positioned on each planet.
  • Purpose and origin: unknown to the galaxy at large.
  • ~2646: A MUD explorer discovers that the monoliths are actually a star map — their coordinates would send captains deep into the High-Risk Zone. The implications of what lies at those coordinates remain unknown

The Termiks

  • ~2471: After several expeditions, various branches of the semi-sentient species known as the Termiks are discovered across the sector's planets
  • Researchers learn they are the ones building the monoliths, but the reason remains a mystery
  • Tirelessly search for minerals and ores to construct more monoliths.
  • Uniform behavior across all branches — yet no indication they're aware of parallel activities on neighboring planets.
  • Archon Confirmed: The monolith blueprint was genetically implanted into the Termiks. They don't learn it — they are born knowing it.
  • Archon Confirmed: The Termiks are unknowingly building a feedback loop / energy network — monoliths harvest the amber star's energy, Termiks build more monoliths, network grows.

Dangers

  • Plentiful natural resources attract outsiders.
  • Some exploit Termiks — capturing them as rare pets or hunting prizes.
  • ~2498: Black Market groups begin hunting the Termiks to sell them as slaves — Termiks can be exploited as either pets, prizes, or slaves depending on the buyer
  • Hunters often vanish in Ilidae's untamed expanses without a trace.
  • (Termik-related mystery — to be explored with Termik species deep-dive)

ECOS Intervention

  • ~2501: The ECOS Fleet rains down over the groups attacking the Termiks
  • ECOS establishes a permanent defensive base in the sector for Termik protection
  • This aligns with the Grove Doctrine (~2493) — ECOS's mandate to protect galactic wildlife
  • ~2569: In cooperation with the Iris Academy (canon/geography/sectors/zenith_door.md), ECOS establishes a sustainable city dedicated to the research and protection of the Termiks

Political Influence

  • Alignment: Unaffiliated (resource frontier) — ECOS defensive presence since ~2501
  • MUD Zone: Located in MUD MRZ but largely ungoverned
