Mycenas-v Sector (MRZ-2)

Once a beacon of prosperity and scientific research within MUD territory, Mycenas-V was deliberately abandoned by MUD during the Convergence War to preserve their own resources.

Overview

Once a beacon of prosperity and scientific research within MUD territory, Mycenas-V was deliberately abandoned by MUD during the Convergence War to preserve their own resources. Eight decades of chaos followed before order returned.

Key Lore

The Fall

  • Pre-War: Thriving community of scientists and research institutions, funded by central MUD authority.
  • The Abandonment: MUD deliberately cut off Mycenas to preserve resources for the core empire during the Convergence War.
  • The Horror: ~80 years of pirate onslaughts, famines, alien slaver raids, and countless calamities.
  • ~2542: Mycenas-V is raided by alien pirates — a devastating attack that plunges the sector into renewed chaos
  • ~2542: In the wake of the raids, Virel the Serene starts a civil movement to fight against external threats and raids in Mycenas-V
  • ~2544: Virel manages to unify the academics of Mycenas-V and creates a meritocratic government focused on self-sustenance. Using the HRZ artifact, Virel constructs an energy shield that isolates the Mycenas-V homeworld — a turning point in the conflict against the pirates
  • ~2546: With the energy shield securing the homeworld, Virel's forces systematically destroy or expel all alien invaders from the sector
  • ~2553: Virel upgrades the energy shield into an imposing system-wide defensive barrier that isolates Mycenas from the greater galaxy — a fortress of self-sufficiency

Virel the Serene

  • Origin: A MUD researcher during the Convergence War, developing technology for the faction.
  • During his research, he discovered an HRZ artifact with immense defensive potential.
  • When MUD deliberately abandoned Mycenas, Virel stole the artifact and stayed behind.
  • United the sector's survivors and used his academic expertise + the artifact to build defenses
  • Only exception to isolation: a strategically positioned starbase for select external interactions
  • Still alive and ruling as the current governor.

Anti-MUD Sentiment

  • The people remember MUD's deliberate abandonment — this is deeply personal.
  • MUD fleets that venture through the system are met with outright hostility.
  • Threatened to intervene if COP continued assault on Pergamos.

Political Influence

  • Alignment: Anti-MUD (hostile to MUD presence)
  • Government: Virel the Serene (current ruler)
  • Defense: HRZ artifact-powered barrier + starbase gatekeeper
