Vega Fall (MRZ-24)¶
Vega Fall is a grim chapter in the annals of Sogmian history.
Overview¶
Vega Fall is a grim chapter in the annals of Sogmian history. A tale so heart-rending that to this day, uttering the names "Vega" or "House Akalma" brings visible discomfort to any Sogmian — a cultural shame comparable to how Germans view Nazism. The sector bears the name of the exposé that toppled a tyrant.
The Rise of Vega¶
The Luminous Gem¶
- In his prime, Vega was hailed as the most luminous gem of the Sogmian species
- Member of House Akalma (Crimson Red — motto: "Embrace your emotions")
- Achieved a meteoric rise through a series of dazzling military victories
- Almost half of the upcoming Sogmian generation aspired to join House Akalma
- Unanimously chosen as Sov Arei (Supreme Leader) by peers from all noble houses
The Consolidation¶
- First act as Sov Arei: Relocated the Sogmian capital to this sector
- Amassed unprecedented power — effectively a dictatorship
- Introduced a heretical Du Prah interpretation: Vows applied exclusively to Sogmians; other species were "uncivilized" and unworthy
The Fall¶
The Exposé: "Vega Fall"¶
- A journalist from House Outro infiltrated Vega's citadel
- Published the exposé "Vega Fall" — revealing enslavement, atrocities, and cannibalism of other species
- The revelations united the fragmented houses into a coalition
The Civil War¶
- Devastating conflict across Sogmian space
- Culminated in Vega's last stand in his citadel — killed by coalition forces
- House Akalma survivors banished to MRZ-12 (Akalma Exile)
- This banishment led to another great tragedy a hundred years later — the Convergence War
Current State¶
House Lutavira Headquarters¶
- The sector is majority Sogmian today
- Vega's citadel has been reformed and restored
- It now serves as the headquarters of House Lutavira (Violet — "Rise, win, conquer")
- Lutavira = the house of natural-born leaders, the most fundamentalist Du Prah followers
- Powerful symbolism: the legitimate leaders reclaiming the throne of the greatest tyrant
Cultural Significance¶
- No formal prohibition against visiting or mentioning the sector
- The discomfort is purely cultural — deep collective shame, not law
- Comparable to how Germans view their Nazi past: acknowledged, studied, never celebrated
- A living reminder of what happens when the Du Prah is corrupted
Post-War Refuge¶
- ~2523: House Outro opens the doors of Vega Fall for Convergence War refugees — the sector that once symbolized Sogmian shame now becomes a beacon of compassion, sheltering the displaced from across the galaxy
The Akalma Exile's End (~2544)¶
- ~2544: The fleeing remnants of House Akalma encounter the Oxir — an enigmatic species in the HRZ
- High Matron Odette of the Oxir directs them to a relatively safe location in the HRZ
- Odette pleads that the Akalma survivors live in peace, hidden from the factions — they accept her proposal
- This marks the final known destination of the Akalma exile, and their first contact with the Oxir species
Multi-Species Prosperity (~2586)¶
- ~2586: After decades of cooperation between members of House Outro, House Patrah, and the refugees of the Convergence War, Vega Fall prospers — becoming a beacon for the multi-species cooperation ideology
- The sector that once symbolized Sogmian tyranny now stands as proof that different species can build something together
Narrative Hooks¶
- Lutavira's Burden: Operating from a tyrant's citadel — does the architecture haunt them? Do they find Vega's hidden chambers?
- The Journalist: The unnamed House Outro journalist — one of the bravest in Sogmian history
- Shame and Identity: Young Sogmians confronting ancestral guilt
- Akalma Echoes: Are there Akalma remnants still hidden in the sector?
