Zavijava Zone (MRZ-34)

The Zavijava Zone is an enigmatic sector where time doesn't always obey conventional rules.

Overview

The Zavijava Zone is an enigmatic sector where time doesn't always obey conventional rules. Under still-mysterious conditions, temporal distortions unpredictably ripple through the fabric of time, affecting the sector's ecosystem in myriad ways.

History

Public Knowledge

  • Before the Convergence War, Zavijava was a nondescript sector of Galia
  • ~2531: After the war concluded and the COP treaty was ratified, peculiar time-based phenomena started occurring
  • It was as though a cosmic hex had been cast upon the sector
  • Publicly, there is no clue as to what causes the distortions

The True Origin (Hidden Lore)

[!CAUTION] This information is not publicly known in-universe. Only a handful of entities are aware of the true cause.

  1. HRZ relic hunters stole an unknown artifact from one of the worlds dominated by the Tufa Titan Bklok
  2. They fled to Zavijava Zone to hide, taking refuge in the depths of an underground city
  3. Their plan was to wait for the heat to die down, then transport the artifact to Yuldun Waste and sell it through the BMAH
  4. One of the thieves attempted to steal the artifact for himself and flee alone
  5. He was caught in the act — a fight broke out among the group
  6. During the combat, the artifact was accidentally activated
  7. It began generating the random temporal anomalies that have plagued Zavijava ever since

The artifact remains somewhere in that underground city, still active, still generating distortions — but slowly running out of energy.

Temporal Anomalies

Manifestations

The anomalies manifest in capricious, unpredictable ways:

  • Time acceleration: Within a ~2km radius, days may pass as mere minutes
  • Time stasis: Creatures can be suspended in a temporal freeze — seemingly frozen, only to resume life years later, untouched by the passage of years
  • Effects are localized and random — no pattern has been identified
  • No known way to predict, control, or prevent them

Anomaly Status

  • The phenomenon is stable but weakening over time
  • The artifact's energy is being spent and there is no nearby source to recharge it
  • Eventually, the anomalies will cease entirely — but the artifact itself will remain

Impact on Daily Life

  • Despite the tangible risk of eternal time freeze, inhabitants approach it with humor and resignation
  • Popular local jest:

"The chances of being stuck in time are slimmer than snagging the galactic lottery. But should I ever hit that jackpot, I'll simply relocate from Zavijava, and all will be well!"

The Vortex Watchers

Public Face

  • A coalition of neutral, esteemed scholars and temporal researchers
  • Have established a research base in the sector
  • Stated dual objective:
  • Decipher the mysteries of Zavijava's time anomalies
  • Harness the potential power of time manipulation
  • So far, their efforts have been in vain
  • The Council of Peace keeps tabs on everything happening in Zavijava

Secret Reality

[!WARNING] The Vortex Watchers are secretly funded and oriented by the Gate Garrison. The Gate Garrison is discreetly searching for the artifact within the sector. The Gate Garrison's leader has extreme personal interest in recovering the artifact as quickly as possible.

  • The "neutral research" is a front — the real objective is to locate the Tufa Titan artifact
  • The Gate Garrison is the true power behind the Vortex Watchers
  • Full Gate Garrison motivations will be revealed with that faction's deep lore

Narrative Hooks

  • Artifact hunt: The most powerful object in the sector is buried in an underground city, guarded by temporal anomalies it created
  • Gate Garrison's true agenda: The bounty hunters aren't just funding research — they're running an extraction operation
  • COP vs. Gate Garrison: COP monitors Zavijava but doesn't know about the artifact or Gate Garrison involvement
  • Bklok wants it back: A Tufa Titan's artifact was stolen — does Bklok know where it ended up?
  • Ticking clock: The artifact is losing energy — when it dies, the anomalies stop but the artifact becomes findable
  • Living time capsules: People frozen in stasis from years ago could awaken into a completely changed galaxy
