Overview¶

"What truly drives the ruler of the Zenith Door?" The answer is known: genuine peace. But to the rest of Galia, whispers persist.

The Zenith Door stands as a pivotal nexus within the frontiers of ONI and Ustur territory — the closest ONI territory to the borders of the HRZ. Home to the galaxy's foremost academic institution and the COP's elite border fleet, it is ruled by one of the canon's most important characters: Chior.eldr, an Ustur Elder who dreams of a galaxy without factions or wars.

Zenith Door is not merely a sector — it is the origin point of four interlocking storylines that define Galia's modern era:

1. Chior's peacekeeping crusade — a centuries-long diplomatic project
2. The Iris Academy — Galia's greatest research institution, architect of Project Starpath
3. The Herdus Tragedy — a co-founder's descent into madness, cult prophecy, and criminal empire
4. The COP Crisis — the irony of a peace council waging war, and the Elder trying to stop it

Founding (~2539)¶

• ~2539: Chior.eldr and his disciple Herdus.soul discover the wrecked sector of Zenith Door
• Together they mobilize the local population and, using all of their personal resources, manage to stabilize the sector
• This act of selfless reconstruction establishes Chior's reputation and lays the foundation for Zenith Door's future as a diplomatic capital
• ~2545: Chior relocates the Iris Academy (conceptually founded ~2525) to Carvum, an abandoned mining planet in Zenith Door, establishing it as the institution's permanent headquarters

[!NOTE] The Iris Academy was conceptually founded ~2525 by Chior.eldr and Professor Exfeheros during the post-war rebuilding period. It was physically relocated to Carvum in Zenith Door ~2545, after Chior had stabilized the sector (~2539). Both dates are canon — they describe different milestones.

• A genuine neutral agent — not aligned with any faction's expansionist goals
• Possesses unparalleled diplomatic finesse — brokered agreements with almost every significant Galia faction
• Maintains Zenith Door as an oasis for diplomacy

Timeline¶

The Chior-Ponel Divergence¶

Chior and Ponel were twin pupils of Armi.eldr — the leader who guided the Ustur through the Convergence War. After the war, they diverged completely:

• Chior → stayed in the Elder Order, became Galia's foremost pacifist diplomat (Zenith Door)
• Ponel → broke away to found the Anfoil State (MRZ-15) — a meritocratic technate that suppresses emotion

Their opposing philosophies — Chior's empathy-driven diplomacy vs Ponel's cold efficiency — represent the fundamental Ustur schism. Ponel even attempted to bribe or destroy the Iris Academy, viewing it as a rival to Anfoil's own intellectual project.

The Herdus Tragedy¶

The ghost of Herdus haunts Zenith Door's success.

Chior's greatest failure and Zenith Door's darkest chapter: his own disciple's descent into madness.

Herdus.soul co-founded Zenith Door alongside Chior in ~2539 and likely helped establish the early Iris Academy. But by ~2559, he had left his master and begun wandering the MRZ alone — his reasons unclear: disillusionment? Restlessness? The first whispers of something darker?

The Fall¶

[!IMPORTANT] Herdus.soul is a pivotal character connecting four major storylines: Zenith Door (co-founder with Chior.eldr), Church of the Dreamer Below (founder), BMAH (former leader), and the Never Alone incident (his death). His arc spans from idealist peace-builder to insane cult prophet to underworld kingpin.

• One of Galia's greatest intellectuals and scientists
• Friend and ally of Chior.eldr
• ~2573: Developed specialized equipment enabling exploration of the Weeping Nebula's toxic rain — the first technological breakthrough of its kind
• ~2576: Established a small Iris Academy research settlement in the Weeping Nebula

Carvum — The Academy Planet¶

The Dawn Vanguard¶

• COP elite fleet created specifically to guard the HRZ/MRZ border

• Capable of obliterating a squadron of Fimbul Mambas with a single missile barrage

The Paradox of Zenith Door¶

An elite military force stationed in a pacifist's domain. Chior did not invite the Dawn Vanguard — the COP stationed them here. Their presence is simultaneously:

• A shield — protecting Zenith Door from HRZ threats (Tufa incursions, unknown dangers)
• A sword — that could be turned on Chior if his opposition to Scarka becomes too threatening
• A symbol — of the COP's reach into even the most peaceful corners of Galia

The COP's War¶

The Free Cities of Humanity¶

• ~2623: Redam (MRZ-1) reaches out to old MUD colonies including Zenith Door and Free Harbors to pressure COP into accepting a truce in the MRZ
• This loose alliance — the Free Cities of Humanity — represents the first organized MRZ-wide resistance to COP military expansion, and Chior is its most prominent voice

• Vaor Scarka: Victory only through vanquishing adversaries and expanding COP dominion
