Key Facts

Iris: The Sentient Core

  • True Nature: Iris is a sentient planet in the heart of the HRZ.
  • Relationship: Sees the Cataclysm as her territory and the Tufa as her children.
  • The Fracture:
  • During the pre-war era, factions discovered how to enter the Cataclysm.
  • They expropriated Genesium (the rarest, most valuable material in the galaxy) by killing Tufa and harvesting it from their bodies.
  • This trauma caused Iris to develop a "personality disorder," fracturing her mind.
  • Cosmic Currents: Manifestations of Iris's fractured, paranoid mind.
  • Current State: Extremely paranoid and protective. Repels all invaders by default.

The Convergence War Connection

  • ~2510: Deep space explorer Gyun Oman discovers the Cataclysm — he scans the data and illegally sells it to all 3 rival factions (MUD, ONI, Ustur), each believing they are the sole recipients
  • Casus Belli: The factions (except Sogmians) fought to control Iris and its unlimited energy source.
  • ~2512: All 3 factions, thinking they were the sole owners of the cataclysmic location, converge to settle the area — all-out war breaks out after the inability to settle the disputed territory
  • Sogmian Intervention: Sogmians recognized Tufa sentience and opposed the harvesting/slavery.
  • ~2522: Iris conceals itself and the space known as the Cataclysm. No one is able to get inside or outside anymore — Iris actively sealed the region, cutting off all access.
  • Post-War Status:
  • COP Ban: The Council of Peace (COP) banned all unauthorized travel to the HRZ altogether — formalizing a reality Iris had already imposed.
  • Guarded Tech: Technology/systems to reach the Cataclysm are guarded "under 7 keys."
