Lumikir

Structure: Compound root-word name (2-3 roots combined)

The Lumikir are a species built on language — Om gave them writing, and they rebuilt their entire civilization around it. Their names reflect this: each Lumikir name is a compound word assembled from meaningful roots in the Lumikir proto-language. Every syllable carries etymological weight. A Lumikir's name is, in essence, a micro-description of their identity or aspiration.

Names are typically 2-3 roots combined. Parents choose roots at birth to express their hopes for the child; some Lumikir later rename themselves when they join a guild or achieve a significant contribution, selecting roots that better reflect who they've become.

Construction Rules

  1. Standard name: Action/Quality + Domain + (optional Modifier)
  2. Names are read left-to-right as a phrase: Veloss = "seeker of stars", Toreth = "writer of history"
  3. Some Lumikir use two action/quality roots when no single domain fits: Velkael = "sharp seeker"
  4. Guild affiliation is stated separately, not embedded in the name — but over time, certain root combinations become associated with specific guilds (e.g., Ren- and -unn names gravitate toward the Whisper Conclave)
  5. The modifier -or is reserved for Lumikir who hold council seats — using it without earning it is a serious social offense
